There are some things that Scotty left out. Some stations intentionally water down their gas. I remember a station back in the early 1980s that had the cheapest gas around. Everyone that filled their vehicle had problems with crappy running engines to engines that wouldn’t run at all. The only cure was to drain some of the shit gas out of the tank and put premium gas in plus a gas additive from a local parts store. That station lasted 3 months. This still happens today but not quite to the extreme that asshole did it. Also, stay away from any gas that is more than 10% ethanol. I have 3 vehicles and all 3 are supposed to be flex fuel. I ran 15% for a short while and all 3 vehicles ended up running like shit. Dumped in a gas additive and ran straight gas for a week in all 3 vehicles and the vehicles came out of it. There are times some stations have more than 10% in their 10% gas tank. This is usually due to the delivery truck dumping the wrong gas into the wrong tank. So, buyer beware!
