VERY much appreciated!!!! As a small family farmer, I can’t remember the last time the internet has provided any content that hasn’t felt like an attack on us. My gratitude can’t even begin to be properly expressed. I can’t understand the attacks towards agriculture, especially when it comes to blaming us for climate change. Not only are the emissions much cleaner today and a per machine basis, but one machine can do the work that it used to take 5 to do. In essence, 5 polluting ass tractors have been replaced by 1 far less polluting machine. I’m sure the world’s cattle population isn’t the highest its ever been, or at least i know there hasn’t been a significant increase in the last several decades. I don’t think too much common sense would be required in order to know any harm to the planet caused by farming is MUCH less than 50 years ago.
Obviously I’m not a scientist living a life devoted to studying the planet so I’ll stick to the common sense approach. A substantial cause of a warmer planet should be glaringly obvious to a 6th grader. Yet, I haven’t heard a single mention of it being a contributing factor. Which is, how many millions of acres of land, farmland or otherwise, has been covered by a blanket of concrete in the last several decades? Am I supposed to believe the amount of heat reflected and retained by all of the concrete, steel, etc isn’t a factor?
Before I go on for hrs, I’ll wrap it up with my final thought. Let’s just say farming did attribute to 90% of the problem. What other sector is more important to survival? People may think they’ll die without wifi , their phone, or whatever other materialistic convenience they enjoy. I don’t assume the little patch of grass between their apartment and their car will keep them nourished for too long…….
1mt: Kawinky-dink that Bill Gates owns the most farmland in America? With the current trend, it won’t be long before everyone like me has no choice but to sell out to people like him…….They never want us to know when the forces of good have a win! Bad for control systems. Thank you, Russell! Protect our farmers that are doing things right!
